Coraline 2 is a hypothetical sequel to the 2009 stop-motion animated film Coraline, directed by Henry Selick and based on the 2002 novella of the same name by Neil Gaiman.
There is no official confirmation that Coraline 2 is in development, but Gaiman has stated that he would be open to the idea of a sequel if the right story came along. In a 2012 interview, he said:
“I’m always open to the idea of a sequel to Coraline, but only if we can come up with a story that’s as good as the first one, if not better. I don’t want to do a sequel just for the sake of doing a sequel.”
season 1 was released on 5th February 2009. As Today far August 4, 2023, there is no official release date for Coraline 2.
One popular fan theory is that the sequel would follow Coraline as an adult, returning to the Other World to face off against the Other Mother once more. This theory is based on the fact that the Other Mother was never truly defeated in the first film. She was simply trapped in the Other World, but she could still potentially escape if Coraline were to ever return.
